God’s wisdom calls out to everyone, inviting all who will listen to turn from folly and walk in truth.
The message is a deep exposition on Ephesians 4:11-16 with references to Colossians 2. It centers on the biblical concept of the five-fold ministry—apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers—given by Jesus Christ as the head of the church to perfectly equip believers (the saints) for ministry and to build up the body of Christ in unity and maturity.
The speaker stresses that the lack of full operation and cooperation of the five-fold ministry in churches today causes division, immaturity, and fragmentation. Man’s ego, desire for control, and failure to submit under Christ’s headship weaken the church’s effectiveness. The five-fold ministry is intended to function collaboratively as under-shepherds under Christ, providing balance and accountability.
The goal of this ministry is threefold:
True unity and maturity (the “measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ”) will only be fully realized in heaven, but believers are called to pursue unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God now.
The message also exposes current problems: division along ethnic and denominational lines, misguided emphasis on spiritual gifts without proper grounding in the Word of God, and the tendency to rely on feelings, culture, or human traditions instead of Scripture alone. This causes believers to be “tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine,” experiencing spiritual instability.
The Holy Spirit’s gifts are given to profit the whole church, not to elevate individuals selfishly. The Word of God must remain the foundational standard and measure of all teaching, prophecy, and ministry. The speaker warns against doctrines or “lost books” that do not align with the true gospel centered on Christ.
Ignorance of the Word leads to a “darkened understanding” and spiritual blindness, which alienates believers from the life of God. Many in ministry operate based on feelings or popular trends rather than biblical truth, leading to emptiness and fruitlessness.
The solution is to embrace Christ-centered teaching, sound doctrine, humility under Christ’s authority, and diligent personal engagement with Scripture. Believers must be taught the truth, practice it, and grow fully grounded in Christ, leading to genuine spiritual maturity and unity in the church.
Ephesians 4:11-16
“And He gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come into the unity of the faith …”
This passage forms the core foundation of the message.
Colossians 2:6-7
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him, rooted and built up in him, established in the faith…”
Emphasizes being grounded and rooted in Christ and His faith rather than man’s traditions.

Jesus Christ gave the church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers as a team to perfect believers and build unity. When one or more of these functions are absent or isolated due to pride or division, the church is crippled and unable to mature.
True unity described in the Bible is “unity of the faith and knowledge of the Son of God.” Divisions among races and denominations show the church has not reached this unity. Ministry must be anchored in biblical truth rather than personal feelings or cultural preferences.
The Word defines the Word. Any prophecy, teaching, or evangelism must align with Scripture. Misuse or misinterpretation leads to deception and instability among believers. The Bible is sufficient; apocryphal or “lost” books should not replace or compete with it.
Gifts like prophecy should build up others, while tongues are primarily for private edification. The desire for spiritual gifts must never overshadow the primacy of Christ and His Word.
Not knowing or applying God’s Word results in a darkened understanding and a failure to grow spiritually. Many believers and ministers are trapped in error because they rely on feelings or “what they think” rather than diligent study and teaching of God’s Word.
